I’ve been so excited to share my bloodwork results with my #ketofam.⠀

I know a lot of people aren’t familiar with the definitions of triglycerides, HDL, LDL, etc. and how they work in your body. I’m going to talk about this more in-depth in my stories (I will make a ‘bloodwork’ highlight as well) because I really want to try and give you a good understanding of these results and what they mean.⠀

I am so impressed with my A1C improvement. Both sides of my family have several diabetics and I was setting myself up to become the next one. Nobody can ever convince me that the standard American diet of carbs/sugar is healthier than keto.⠀

I can’t tell you how many times somebody has said “Oh I can’t do keto because it will be horrible for my cholesterol” or having a comment about MY cholesterol or “bad” nutrition. Look Karen, I eat 1000x more vegetables now than I EVER did before keto (unless you count french fries) and this bloodwork speaks for itself.⠀

My Dr ordered a more detailed cholesterol panel to take for my July appointment. I was showing a slightly elevated LDL number, but she knows I’m keto (and supports it), so she wanted to look at my actual LDL particles through this detailed panel versus the standard bloodwork panel which doesn’t tell the whole story. Many Drs will just see an elevated LDL and write you an RX for a statin. Turns out, my LDL is great. My particles are “Pattern A” which are large and fluffy, meaning there are less of them. If you are showing elevated LDL on keto, I encourage you to get this detailed panel done.⠀

This is definitely the best my bloodwork has ever been in my adult life. Keto completely changed my health in a little over a year. How’s that for #MotivationMonday?⠀

  2. I am literally in tears for you! Health panel results are often daunting for “not so healthy” people, but when you see results outwardly and then you see that your insides are healing as well…what a feeling!!! Congratulations, and praise God for your triumph!

  3. My triglycerides went down almost 100 points after 18 months of keto but my cholesterol is the highest it’s ever been — 250. I haven’t had the more precise particle counts done though. My doc wants me on a statin.
